Hi Swaraj,
Thanks for your great contribution. Your all 5 points are very relevant. I think most harmful duplicate content and keyword stuffing. Besides I think not being active in social medias is not any fact for penalty.

Hey. In my opinion, the only way to stay safe from Google’s penalty is creating qualitative content, interacting socially with readers, and being active on various social media as well as on main site is equally important. Further as u talked-about back links, I too recommend to place back links only on related content’s page and niche related blogs. One good practice for making backlinks is commenting on related posts (high PR) in hubpages with leaving a link as signature. Anyways, you mentioned some of the well effective strategies to avoid any type of penalty from Google. Keep it up.… Read more »

By and large, avoiding Google’s penalty means doing away with poor contents and poor back links. Every serious blogger must realize this by now.

Although there is no telling what metrics Google use for its updates, it is still good to play safe since Google has given us heads up on what to avoid in the webmaster’s tool.

I have shared this same comment in kingged.com where this post was shared and “kingged” for internet marketers.

Hi Swaraj, Great thought-provoking article, thank you! I agree with all of your points and see people violating these rules all over the place. I see keyword stuffing. Gone are the days you can do that and get away with it. Also, scraped content, low quality stuff will take its toll on your site, as you’ve very well said. I find it difficult to get high quality backlinks from high ranking sites. However, I am really working on inner linking on my main money site and as I update each and every post, I make sure to inner link to… Read more »

Hi Swaraj,

Recent Google updates hammered many well known website’s which not follow the basics of Google algorithms.

eBay is the one of them which majorly penalized by Google Panda 4.0 update. It looses it’s 80% organic traffic because of low quality content as well as keyword stuffing.

These 5 guidelines are really effective to avoid Google algorithm penalties. At last thanks for sharing such a informative post.

I found this post on kingged.com

Talk about schemes!
Google is also on a mission to shepherd user searches!
Ask not “What does Google expect from you?”
Ask “What do YOU expect from Google?”
Too bad Google doesn’t practice what Google preaches!

Swaraj, I read your Post, its Nice but Google is behaving weird like it always keep saying Content is King and you write Quality content for readers only which should be helpful and the post must not be keyword rich and not posted for SEO. I keep Writing Good Content and for an Experimental basis I never did any SEO, Link building but I found drop in traffic, less PA, DA but other blogs where I did basic SEO its response was nice so you tell what to do and what not to do? All those are doing Blackhat techniques… Read more »

Hi Swaraj, You have missed one point. Anchor text linking. A large amount of anchor text linking from your keyword can harm your site with penguin algorithm. So Dont use same keyword for anchor text. Use different including naked URL.
I have a question. If our competitor is trying us to get penalty for our site by doing all thins you mentioned in this blog how can we prevent that?
